Doro -
Raise
Your Fist In The Air (03.08.2012)
Doro
has been the undisputed German metal queen for almost 3 decades now. In 1983 she
takes off with the band Warlock and releases four albums. But Warlock gets
increasing pressure from their record company and in 1988 the band has to break
up. But Doro goes her own way and in 1989 her first album "Force Majeure" as
well as an EP and two singles are released. In 1990 the musician ends up in New
York, where she records her album "Doro" with Gene Simmons as a producer. But
the blond bundle of energy is not resting on her laurels and in the following
year she publishes the album "True at Heart". In the 90s Doro develops into the
metalqueen. There follow albums like Angels Never Die (1993), Machine II Machine
(1995) and Love me in Black (1998). In addition 1998 will also have a first Best
of ... Even in the new millennium, the rock singer makes again and again by new
publications attention to herself, for example the Wacken anthem 2009 and 2012
Doro strikes two times, so with AFM the Completion "Under my Skin" appears and
on 03.08.2012 the new EP "Raise Your Fist In The Air" is released via Nuclear
Blast. The EP is presented to the audience of the Wacken Open Air 2012
exclusively. And it is this EP we will talk about here.
About a new CD by Doro I have high expectations, because for me both Warlock and Doro herself are standard features of a good metal collection. Even with the first notes to "Raise Your Fist In The Air" it is clear to me that I am not disappointed this time either. The melody of the song and the chorus are very catchy. Live it's certainly one of the pieces where the audience completely celebrates it. At the beginning of "Victory" I am in the first time irritated because it sounds like Iron Man, but that is a completely different band. In any case, my confusion is wiped away immediately, and the song takes its full effect. Rocking and melodic, and also the voice of Doro has lost none of its power in nearly 30 years. The third track is named "Engel" and is accompanied by soft piano tones. The guitar sound starts quiet and powerful and expressive Doro pushes the song ahead. I think the German songs have something very special and I will listen to this song probably more often. Last but not least, there is once again a highlight, "Raise Your Fist in the Air" in French. Nice to listen and a successful end to this EP.
